About Wild Goose Chase
Thanks for your curiosity about Wild Goose Chase Foundation. Over the past few years, we have put together several projects, with A LOT of help from our friends. We had two very big photography events with Santa in 2012 & 2013 at Pineola Farms raising over $10k for Jay’s Hope. Our most recent projects have been in response to “storms” people were facing at the time. In August of 2016, we were drawn to the flooding situation in Baton Rouge, and we decided to gather supplies and take them over. We ended up with two enormous trailers, books for a flooded school, pet supplies, and cash donations for several residents there.
Then, that same year, two of our local sheriffs deputies were killed while on duty, so we organized an appreciation day with free family photos, gift baskets, lunch and snacks, a photo booth, and fellowship for any officer who could come. We had about 100 active and retired officers come out and spend the day with us. Several of our photography friends donated their time to help with the photos.
Then fall of 2018, we gathered supplies and meals to take to south GA and north Florida for Hurricane Michael victims. We took five trailers of supplies. We also took meals for over 3000 people and delivered many of them door to door in Grand Ridge, Florida. We returned in November to bring turkeys and Thanksgiving dinner fixings for 150 families. All of our work was physical only. We just packed up what people felt called to donate.
2019 was filled with several funds for local families suffering great losses and tragic accidents. 2020 started off somewhat normal until COVID 19. We’re still battling the storm. Our current project is helping our friends Paul and Delise Knight, fund a mission to fulfill as many disposable gowns as possible for our local hospitals and clinics.
These experiences have been some of the most meaningful of our lives. Call us if you want more info! We love to talk about our Wild Goose Chases.
Our most frequently asked question: “Why is it called Wild Goose Chase?”
We kept finding ourselves telling our families and friends that we were on another wild goose chase when we were putting together events and projects. We jokingly said that’s what we’ll name our charity one day. Well, one day came. We stumbled on a book, ‘Wild Goose Chase’ by Mark Batterson that same day and ordered it. It was about reclaiming the adventure of pursuing God. It was perfect! That’s exactly what our foundation had to be named. Our biggest self requirement when on a mission is to glorify God in all that we do and to be His hands and feet. We simply pray and allow Him to lead the way. We have never been disappointed and he always, always shows up and shows out. Below are some of our favorite parts of the book that will create further understanding of our name.
“When we get into the routine of life … … the sacred becomes routine. And we not only forfeit spiritual adventure but we also start losing the joy of our salvation. Chasing the Wild Goose is the way to get it back. That means coming out of the cage of the routine. We need to change our routine, take some risks, and try new things. And if we do, we will find ourselves coming alive again.”
We are called to follow in Christ’s footsteps. Christ followers ought to be the most passionate people on the planet. Pursuing God-ordained passions isn’t optional. It is an essential part of chasing the Wild Goose. And the adventure begins the moment we start pursuing a God-ordained passion.”
“Start praying. Prayer makes us spiritually fertile. And the more we pray the more passionate we become. Our convictions grow stronger, and our dreams grow bigger. Prayer is necessary, but don’t use it as cop-out. At some point, prayer must lead to action. Pray about everything. Then pray some more. But at some point, you need to quit praying and start acting.”
”If the twenty-first-century church said less and did more, maybe we would have the same kind of impact the first-century church did.”
